六○年代另一名很重要的靈魂樂歌手是Otis Redding，他的演藝生涯非常短，在1967年參加一場六○年
代很重要的音樂節"Montery"的 演出，技驚四座，但就在隔年巡迴演唱時，摔飛機過世了。即使留下的
作品很少，但所有聽過Otis Redding的歌聲的人，都會覺得這是他們聽過最好的聲音之一，包括Lou
Reed，他覺得Redding是他聽過最偉大的歌手。聽過他的聲音，就知道他是用全身的細胞在詮釋音樂，
另外有趣的是，他用鋼琴改編當時有名的搖滾樂成靈魂樂的形式，像Rolling Stones的"Satisfaction"，
不經Otis Redding這樣唱，很多人或許不會發現到Rolling Stones對Soul music的執著。
